Concert Photos: Red Hot Chili Peppers Rock Blossom

Red hot funk-rockers Red Hot Chili Peppers made a return to Northeast Ohio Monday night to play to a sold-out Blossom crowd. When I say “sold out,” we’re talking COMPLETELY full to the rafters, fire-marshal-putting-his-foot-down, no-more-people allowed, lawn-completely-covered sea of people.

Taking the stage a fashionable ten minutes past their set time, bassist Flea came out doing a handstand. Taking their positions on the stage, the quartet tore into an 18-song set, pulling heavily from their older, deeper stuff. Their 2002 effort By the Way yielded four tracks, while their newest album, 2022’s Return of the Dream Canteen, provided a mid-set pair of tunes.

Fans of the band’s bigger hits may have left disappointed; some of their more well-known tunes were left off the set list completely. “Californication” came in towards the end of the show, and the quartet finished out the evening with “Under the Bridge” and “Give It Away.”
