Steve Hirst first moved to the U.S. about a decade ago, he had trouble with the language barrier. “Do you know what we call cigarettes in England? Fags,” says Hirst, who now lives in Dallas. “You don’t call them that over here, do ya? You need to let us know this. I nearly got
killed. I asked a guy if I could bum a fag off him. He was like, ‘What? I’ll give you some money.’ [I told him], I know you’ve got one. I saw one in your mouth a minute ago. He was
not happy with me.”
