Department store shopping in Cleveland used to be an experience, and a classy one at that.

Shoppers could find everything from homegoods to hair salons at one-stop-shops like Halle Brothers, Higbee’s, and May Company.

With the help of the Cleveland Memory Project, here’s a glimpse into a bygone shopping era and a store that contributed to Cleveland’s Golden Age of Downtown Shopping.

  1. I just found a newspaper/catalogue for the Halle 70th anniversary sale – dated 10/4/1961 ! So cool.
