For all his outspoken magnanimity, Charles Ramsey appears to be overly protective of the “Hero” label he may have unduly acquired in the rescue of Amanda Berry earlier this month. Residents on Seymour Avenue certainly aren’t buying into the Ramsey-as-Savior narrative.
“It’s absolutely false,” said Cleveland councilman Brian Cummins in a phone interview this afternoon. After establishing the Courage Fund, Cummins is now focused on the recovery of his Seymour constituents. He’s lately been visiting the street to offer counseling services and said that a “huge issue” has become “absolutely apparent” there — Ramsey’s lies.
Put bluntly, residents are pissed off.
“The real story, the corroborated story, came out” Cummins said, “but it was buried under the avalanche of media reactions to Charles Ramsey.”

Charles Ramsey was quick to grab the mantel of hero which he does not deserve. Angel Cordero rescued those girls and Ramsey strolled by the cameras to dance and joke around and put on a show. The cameras loves the clown but when all is said and done, Angel Cordero demonstrated class and basically said he didn’t care about Mr. Ramsey’s show, he was happy that the girls are free. I think that Minkoff is right. Ramsey provided the desired diversion which the viewing public wanted because the magnitude of the crime was hard to comprehend.
What Ramsey does not understand is that the public is fickled and in time he will be no longer interesting and his fictional account of events will become forgotten while his money will have been spent at the casinos with his newly found “friends”.
In the end, Angel Cordero will have been right and that is that the only thing that really matters is that the women are now free.
By the way, Mr. Ramsey before you express any more hostility toward anyone, remember your past experiences with law enforcement. I am sure duplicating those experiences will tarnish your hero image.
This is by far more the media’s fault than Ramsey’s.

This is a garbage article filled with lies. Cummings only believes the lies of Cordero and his friends.. pathetic. Ramsey is a great guy. I’m sure Amanda will vouch for that. Mr. Ramsey’s own constantly changing stories cast great doubt on his role in the rescue. He very well could be no more than a con man pulling a great fraud on the American public. Ramsey is what some people here call ‘an embellish-er of the truth.” I call it lying. I don’t understand why one would tell the victim to go across the street and use a cell phone while you are calling on your cellphone. 911 operator didn’t tell Mr. Ramsey he didn’t believe him, or to stop playing on this line. The whole call is on tape. Transcripts are available. His hero status is not believable after all these falsehoods because he is making up stories and telling untruths about the way the rescue actually happened that he should just fade into the background. Mr. Ramsey what you are doing is unfair to Angel Cordero or Amanda Berry. In fact, Amanda and Angel are the real heroes. Ramsey is a very loud person and a liar…he seized the situation to promote himself as the hero since Angel is not fluent in English. He is an opportunist.
This story is bull! You should check your facts with people in the know which Cummins is not one of. Mr. Ramsay has said numerous times ask Amanda. The FBI knows the truth. If his version was not true he wouldn’t of been offered the reward money. Also, he said he was do sting the reward money to the girls. Nothing else. The poor guy hasn’t been able to work so do e good people can’t raise money to help him? Get on his feet ?? Give me a break. I’d be mad to listening to people lie saying things that have no truth. He never mentions Angel by name in the interview.. And Angel didn’t show for his interview because he lying! Aim and simple. The truth will come out and you will look ridiculous for reporting falsehoods! People who were there and authorities know the truth and the truth is Mr. Ramsay is the one and only hero!
By the way is this true? Several sources said that when cops got to the scene they assumed that Charles Ramsey had something to do with the kidnapping. Charles and Amanda had to repeatedly tell them he was the rescuer. Even then, they put Charles in a squad car and questioned him, cautioning him not to mention it. Was Anthony Cordero also detained and questioned? If not, why? If any of this is true it bolsters Charles story even more. I’m not hating on anybody but every story I’ve read says that Charles is who he says he is. I wish him the best.
He made the call to 911 along with Amanda. who else made the call to confirm the situation. he also gave a description of the miata to help find the vehicle the kidnapper was it. what else do you folks want of this man. even if he didn’t break the door down..that was certainly enough.
Robert Smith, I just want him to tell the truth. He did not go over to the house and break the door open so she could get out. He called 911 when she was already on the phone calling 911 so why would he call 911 when she was calling but only to establish that he called, so what. The media liked him because they could get a story quickly in English.
Robert, I trust you would agree there is no reason for Ramsey to threaten to beat up Angel Cordero. Cordero said he helped the woman out of the house and her daughter and then he went away. Ramsey has his posse to hang with now and is seeking all kids of media attention.
But soon this will all be over and as I mentioned before the most important thing is that these girls are now free.

Amanda Berry just confirmed in an interview with GMA yesterday that CHARLES RAMSEY was the REAL hero! Guess Sam was too busy trying to pick apart Charles to go to the source!
“For the first time in 10 years, Berry said, she found her bedroom door unlocked without Castro around. Downstairs, the front door was open but wired with an alarm. Beyond it, the storm door was padlocked shut, but Berry was still able to squeeze out an arm.

There was at least 5 witnesses that day, their stories haven’t changed, and they aren’t going around threatening people and milking it for all they can get.
You obviously haven’t read Amanda Berry’s book. She doesn’t have very flattering things to say about Charles Ramsey and the woman has no reason to lie about any of it. Amanda and Gina’s book is brutally honest about the entire kidnapping. She confirmed Ramsey helped her more than Cordero did. Cordero just walked off and Ramsey led her to his house to call 911 and Berry walked in but thought “Oh, shit! I’m walking into a creepy house with a creepy strange man I don’t know. That’s how I got in this mess in the first place!” Then ran to another neighbor to call 911 herself and Ramsey made his famously hilarious call. Everything adds up. Hell, Ramsey didn’t know she was practically famous, he got her name wrong. Neither guy admitted helping much until thwy found out there was a reward. If Amanda Berry was trying to make him look good she wouldn’t have called him “creepy” the woman has no reason to lie about her rescue, she had way more on the line than fame.

The media made him a sensation-like many others-because he is the stereotypical black person who comes across as ignorant and flamboyant……like the “Ain’t nobody got time for that” and the one whose intruder story became a song thanks to AutoTune……
But the real reason his account was given before Angels and the other neighbors: he spoke English…..If you watch the Spanish News station interviews you’ll see the real account given- which was witnessed by several neighbors, including my cousin…..Amanda was screaming frantically, the women Altagarcia Tejeda and neighbor Aurora Marti hear her, Tejeda goes over to help, realizes she couldn’t open the door, so she calls Cordero over who helps kick the door in and Amanda came out with her daughter and used Tejedas phone to call 911…In the process of this Ramsey hears the commotion, asks what is going on then calls 911 from his phone…..
The man lies so much he probably can’t even see straight! If you listen to his 911 call you hear him call her Linda Berry and say he doesn’t know if there are any others in the house……then on the first of his interviews he talks about how it’s a “dead giveaway for a pretty little white girl to come running into a black man’s arms” then the next interview he says he thought it was a “domestic dispute” and didn’t want to get involved. …..until he saw Angel trying to kick in the door, then goes to help…….
He got mad because the neighborhood called him out. Mind you he was sleeping on someone’s couch and is a dishwasher at a crappy restaurant, after he was given the reward and GoFundMe money he went and bought an expensive car, liquor and drugs and was trying to sell thirty with his picture for $25-…..He then went on to threaten Angel and was broke weeks lafer………He’s a deadbeat Dad and and loser. God knew he wasn’t the hero and karma prevailed,
And for those who are insisting he is telling the truth because Amandas book says so. …for one thing I would be amazed at her recollection of exactly WHO was behind the door with the amount of adrenaline going through her….that is why witness testimony is the weakest form of evidence and people are continually being exonerated by DNA……but you are disregarding at least 5 people who witnessed it……and Amanda is simply going along with the version she heard and the narrative of the version in the book Charles cowrote….if she disputed it it would cause the publisher $$$ and he himself admits Angel was there first in several interviews……..And Amandas version is full of inconsistent material from her interviews and Michelle Knights version. She didn’t even credit Wright with delivering her baby! So you might want to consider that…….
If you examine all the information here, verify it, and you and still believe Ramseys version you are just believing what you want to and not the truth.
Amanda said in her book that Ramsey was telling the truth and that Angel Cordero and his relative actually tried to stop Ramsey from helping her. It’s right there on the first page of her book.
