Until dogs can poop in toilets, youre going to have to clean up after them.

  • Until dogs can poop in toilets, you’re going to have to clean up after them.

Looks like 2010 will be remembered around these parts as the Year of the Crap: First there was the debut of the zoo’s new animal-dung exhibit “The Scoop on Poop,” then LeBron unleashed a mighty dump on us last week.

Now the Northeast Ohio Regional Sewer District has launched a campaign called “Pick Up Poop” — a.k.a. “PUP,” which is public-relations speak for “Stop leaving dogshit where we’re gonna step in it.”

“There are more than 90,000 dogs in Cuyahoga County,” we learn at the campaign’s website at wheredoesitgo.weebly.com/. “If each dog poops twice a day, that could be more than 45 tons of doggie droppings every day! That’s a lot of bacteria, and when it rains, that groundwater and surface runoff carries that bacteria to local waterways. Yuck.”

Yuck indeed. If you go to the site and pledge to pick up what Brutus leaves behind, they’ll send you a doggie bandanna. There’s also an array of car magnets, yard signs, and bumper stickers, but you’re on your own for pooper scoopers. — Anastasia Pantsios

  1. So if the poop goes to a land fill, Do they think it doesnt rain there? Isn’t that bacteria going to make it into the groundwater and local waterways. This is a waste of tax payers money.

  2. And just were do you think our poop goes?
Yes, its settled and filtered out, but not all the bacteria are removed and neither are all the household chemicals and flushed drugs are removed, all that remains heads right into the lake.
Oh, and the stuff they settled and filtered out, that gets spread on farmers fields with all the chemicals and drugs to be taken-up by the foods grown for use to eat.
You think that black fine particle matter you find on celery and under onion skins is dirt?
    Think again!
This practice has been outlawed in Canada for years, but not here in the states!
So enjoy your shit salad and your shit sandwich.
