The outrage over the Cleveland Clinic’s decision to close two trauma centers doesn’t show any signs of slowing down.

Mayor Frank Jackson said today that Cleveland and East Cleveland plan on suing the Clinic over the closure of the trauma center at Huron Hospital, according to NewsNet5.

That news comes days after a rally was staged by citizens, ministers, and political figures urging the Clinic to reconsider, with some politicians even making threats to hold up passing bills for certain Clinic building projects if something isn’t done soon.

From WKYC:

East Cleveland Mayor Gary Norton was in charge.

“This is an issue that goes beyond city boundaries,” Norton said.

Other Cleveland City Council members threatened to hold up legislation the Clinic needs to pass for various building projects.

“We’ll hold up zoning, we’ll hold up variations…They won’t build nothing,” warned Safety Committee Chairman Councilman Kevin Conwell.

“Our objective is not to fight and disrespect the Clinic. But it is to demand respect and to make them realize they have to commit to urban health care,” said Councilman Jeff Johnson.

  1. Kevin Conwell you are an idiot, sue the Clinic, hold up variations, hold up zoning they won’t build nothing, go ahead and see how fast the Clinic sues the City.

  2. It seem to be cool for the clinic to take away the heart center at Huron Road, the reasoning was because whites and people with money did’nt want to come into East Cleveland to recieve treatment, that was the beginning, now they want to take the tramua center from Huron Road Hospital, leaving the city of East Cleveland without nothing. When they remove the tramua center what will be left?, nothing but a building that will be use to treat the poor and we all know what that means. Bad service, longer waiting time, residents, not doctors with experience. They are already calling it the center for high blood and diabetes, and who has a higher rate of these two diseases, blacks. Not only are we being F***** in the process, the nursing students will also have to leave and continue their nurse training at Tri-C,this is BS. Cleveland Clinic has gone too far but the city of Cleveland allowed this to happen,Euclid is all messed up as far as driving goes, the clinic has taken over, and who benefits from this the most are foreigners that don’t pay taxes. Anytime a company can tell you that in order to have a job you have to quite smoking, not only on their property but in your own home, is like being a slave, and does not allow you one of the basic rights of haveing the right to make yourself happy is going to far,as a black women that amounts to slavery and I ain’t going for that.City and State official need to stop Cleveland Clinic in their tracks. All this building up of their hospital, and poor people still can’t get the treatment they need because they are poor. Cleveland residents should be some of the most healthiest people around with all the building the clinic is doing, yet we are some of the most unhealthy and untreated, for some its like being in a third world country that don’t have all that we are suppose to have.

  3. since most of the people who really need the trauma center at Huron Road Hospital are blacks,by the time they get you to the hospital you will be dead. People get up and speak up, we need the tramua center to stay where it is for the good of all those who may be unlucky enough to need emergency care due to tramua, gun shot wounds, car accidents, heart attacks, strokes, these type of needs make the center a must in our area. So Speak Up, Shut Down Cleveland Clinic’s Efforts to Close What We Need. Mayor Jackson please don’t allow this to happen, I live in East Cleveland , but, I don’t have any faith in our supposely mayor to get anything done, but maybe Mayor Jackson can get with the citizens of E.C. and do something to stop theis maddness.
