For the record, that’s 95 exclamation marks, which is almost certainly a new record.

(original story, 4:15 p.m. on 11/13/2013): I wish I were excited about anything as much as WKYC meteorologist and morning show host Hollie Strano is excited about Tweeting.
For people who follow @holliesmiles on twitter (or simply follow @wkyc and see her retweeted) you may have noticed her enthusiasm on the social networking site with exclamation marks sprinkled throughout nearly all of her 140-characters-or-fewer posts (and often coupled with question where she excitedly and inquisitively asks her followers or viewers to chime in on topics that are presumably mentioned on the show).
I decided to see if I could analyze her Twitter-excitement and put it into real, tangible numbers. It’s important work, really. My goal: to find out how often she uses exclamation marks in tweets. My sample size: her last 100 posts, including direct replies, but excluding posts she retweeted by other users, her posts that are simply automatic reposts from her facebook (that get cut off once it hits the character limit) and tweets that only contain links.
The results: by my count, for her 100 most recent eligible tweets at the time of this publication, she used 225 exclamation marks for an average of 2.25 per tweet. Those 100 posts go back only to midway through yesterday’s morning show; she’s a big-time tweeter. Here’s the breakdown of my numbers:
-32 posts contained 2 exclamation marks.
-31 posts contained 1 exclamation mark.
-18 posts contained 3 exclamation marks.
-8 posts contained 4 exclamation marks.
-6 posts contained no exclamation marks.
-And there were one post each containing 5, 7, 8, 11, and 13 exclamation marks.
With 13 exclamation marks, her most excited tweet of the past 100 was a reply to someone who responded to this question she asked: “Good morning! A high school in Vermont is canceling all dances because of twerking! Do you think this is right?”
@jjmo6371 @johnWKYC exactly!!!!!!!!!!!! 🙂 morning John!

And for the six she didn’t use any exclamation marks, five of them had enthusiastic emoticons and/or a variation of “xoxo.” I found only one eligible tweet with no exclamation mark, emoticon, or “xoxo.” Ladies and gentlemen, I present to you Hollie Strano’s least enthusiastic tweet:
So @Walmart is now opening on Thanksgiving too. They are feeding the staff a traditional Thanksgiving meal… Thoughts? @wkyc @johnWKYC

I’m a jerk and a cynic – but Hollie’s tweets always make me smile. She’s a super lady!
She is annoying!
Close friend that used to work at 3 made casual mention that Hollie is a snottly little wench….
But most people that need the attention of a camera are…
I am not a morning person, so I’m just a little bit tired and grumpy when I wake up. Anyone who is super happy and perky and loud and in my face immediately after I wake up is generally not received well by me.
Yeah when your that chipper inf front of a camera you tend to have the opposite off camera…
Just sayin’
Got the job probably b/c she knew someone, not b/c of pure talent. She is not bad, but she’s not great.
Tweeting about twerking is for twats…but caring about it is for twits. End of story.

Too sacharine sweet for me. Very poor grammar. The entire “cast” of Strano’s morning show is unprofessional in the delivery of local and world news. When I wake I do not want to be bombarded with a variety show, I want the news. Editorializing seems to be prolific on Strano’s “newscasts” and weather updates. The constant tweeting is ridiculous. Wilma Smith was class for Cleveland. Strano, Kyle and Anderson should look up to other Cleveland newscasters for professionalism. She also needs a fashion consultant.
Wilma Smith was annoying and brittle and witchy…don’t miss her a bit. Holly is only slightly less so…I think she’s nice-looking, but I, too, cannot stand PERKY and HAPPY TALK ( how 70s) in the morning…for me, it’s either a brief news summary and classical music on the radio, or SILENCE. I have NEVER been able to stand TV in the morning, because I’m crabby in the morning…until I finally feel more awake and alert.
Now if they could just send that weekend anchor chick Lydia Esparra back to being a reporter…she has no business being an in-studio anchor…she’s too much like Roseanne Roseannadanna from SNL (Gilda Radner )…that fake hairpiece down to her cleavage…and that make-up…and that accent.
And the weather woman from Fox-8 (Angelica Campos) is just as bad. Very poor delivery… “Jah-gah” County? Why do I always think “West Side Story” when I see and hear those two?
But Robin Swoboda is even worse…she thinks she’s Phyllis Diller or Ellen Whatsherface…and tries to be loud and funny…her braying laugh makes me want to choke her.
I hear she’s finally leaving…going back to Christian radio because she’s tired of the “sad” news she has to deliver…poor baby, like she didn’t know that going in 20 years ago…and didn’t get paid the big bucks for her SILLY behavior? Can’t wait to see her go…she has a good face for radio!
Morning TV shtick and morning radio babbling…both of them are not my thing…it’s classical and jazz…or nothing! Mostly the latter.
