Update: A federal jury sided with Quicken Loans, saying the company does not owe over 300 employees overtime pay because “sales” were not their primary job responsibility. (AP)

Quicken Loans is embroiled in a federal trial up in Detroit right now. Former employees are claiming they are owed overtime for working upwards of 60 hours a week. Quicken bosses disagree, saying that the rank-and-file that work the phones are not sales people, but rather “mortgage bankers” who advise homeowners.

Allegations include being made to watch cold-call sales movies like Boiler Room and insistence that working the phones, hawking loans and urging people to fork over $500 to get the process started, was key to doing the job well. Always be closing, as it were.

  1. I hope Gilbert lose’s this one like he lost LeBron. They worked 60 hours a week so pay them.It dose’nt matter what title you gave them to avoid paying overtime.

  2. Why not get a 600 pound gorilla with a 20 inch dick to fuck Dan up the ass and then just call it a prostate exam ?
Just pay the people ya cheap bastard.

  3. I worked for this place for almost 4 years, I made the company over 2 million dollars , they paid squat, he is a nazi running around in a suit, He made milllions this past year in loans. Now he wants to take clevelands money with gambling. This is no place to work, it is one of the toughest most stressful jobs ever, they had baseball bats pounding on people desks, it was a nazi camp. I got fired after I did a cleveland jobs survey on if I would reccommend QUicken to people to work. This is how money or the greed has ruined america, I wouldnt reccommend this job to anyone. They hire young people until the exhaust them, and then fire them and hire more , it has a 80% turn over ratio. Theyve only been in cleveland about 5 years and very few still work there. I was one of 30 hired and the last surviving person. I think Jesse Jackson had it right on this one, that he was a slave driver. This place needs to be exposed for what it is.
