Update: Rolling Stone has that new song up here. Give it a listen. They also have a little more info about the project.

We haven’t heard much from Devo since their pretty-damn-good 2010 comeback album Something for Everybody.

Next week the band, which was formed in Akron way back in the early ’70s, returns with a new single all about Mitt Romney’s poor dog — yep, the one Mitt tied to the top of the station wagon during a family vacation in 1983.

The song — “Don’t Roof Rack Me, Bro! (Remember Seamus)” — comes out on August 25 as a digital single.

Gerald Casale, Devo’s co-founder, is the main member behind the track, which is just one part of an extensive campaign he’s launching to bring awareness to what a dick move it was for Romney to strap Seamus’ carrier, with the pooch inside, to the top of his car for a 12-hour drive from Boston to Ontario.

Casale is also launching Remember Seamus, designed a shirt for Dogs Against Romney, and helped develop the game The Crate Escape: Seamus Unleashed, which will be released the day after the single comes out (which happens to be National Dog Day).

  1. Mitt Romney signed the Norquist Pledge and wants to be president of the USA. Mitt Romney has insulted people in England and Chicago. He talks down to everyone in the world other than those who like him…which is pretty much nobody other than republicans. He pays 14% taxes on his 250 million dollar money making machine and says the people of the country ‘have seen enough tax and income records’ to vote him into the presidency of the USA.

  2. A dog, Seamus or otherwise, would be a much better presidential candidate than either of these two clowns.

  3. Love them for this. Need to inform every American what kind of person he is. He cares only about his riches and those like him.
