Here in Ohio, the great and sweeping voter disenfranchisement being enacted by Secretary of State John Husted is becoming one of the more contentious issues rearing its ugly head this election season.
The basic situation is that Husted has stacked the deck so that early voting centers in urban areas (that’s codespeak for black, or Democrat) patches of the state will close down early, while suburban sites (white, or Republican) stay open longer.
Despite the lame excuses issuing out of the Republican establishment’s various mouthpieces, that’s unfair any way you cut it. The New York Times, the Gray Lady itself, agrees. Today the paper featured an editorial calling out Husted on his chicanery, titled “Overt Discrimination in Ohio.”
This is just the latest alarming example of how Republicans across the country are trying to manipulate the electoral system by blocking the voting rights of their opponents. These actions have a disproportionate effect on blacks, Hispanics and other ethnic minorities who struggled for so long to participate in American democracy.

You really should do a little research before blathering out a story. That is some hack job. I guess Kyle was too busy to take pride in his work.
Tilted….What is so difficult to understand? It’s fairly simple that Husted is being partisan and unfair in siding with the Repuglicants in the Democratic urban areas. Why are the hours different from one county to another? It should be the same. I’m thinking of filing a lawsuit as a concerned citizen that my rights are being infringed.
@Tilted, got anything specific you have an issue with? What’s missing there? The summary is pretty much on point, I’m all ears if otherwise.
Kyle: The media in mainstream Ohio became so used to calling liberals lazy and looking for handouts; or corrupt like the Jimmy and Frank show here in Cleveland; or any number of other undesireable characteristics in which we libtards are supposed to be all about, that when we have any differences with the conservative point of view in any way, shape or form we are dismissed as just foolish and uninformed lefties mad because our food stamps might be cut off by Mitt and gang.
There is need for further research. The whole world sees that Ohio has become South Africa’sApartheid.
