In the Fall, the Winking Lizard at 32045 Detroit Rd. will relocate to a new address in Avon. This upgraded Lizard will be a newly constructed restaurant situated next to the popular Avon Commons Shopping Center.

“We need a new facility to accommodate our guests and staff better. We love the existing patio at the Avon location, but with all the floors and the bar being the smallest area in the restaurant, it is time to move” explains co-owner John Lane.

Lane also ensures there will be zero interruption in operations from the closing of the Avon unit to the launch of the new locale.

Also in the works for this Spring: a cigar patio that will be added to the recently opened Lizardville in Lakewood.

  1. Hate this idea-another sterile, brand new restaurant! No charm, no great patio….they’ve lost me.

  2. The charm of the Avon place was 3/4 of the reason we even went there. If you don’t drink, there’s nothing food-wise that would beckon you to return. If it becomes just another strip-mall chain, that’s all it truly will be.

  3. Lakewood location has a lot of character, if you don’t like Avon, come hang out in my neighborhood.

  4. Soooooo upset!!! We travel from Michigan a few times a year to enjoy Ohio offerings. The Avon Winking Lizard location is, by far, THE BEST one around!!! It offers charm, character, and comfort that no other Winking Lizard location can match. The outdoor patio area is so tranquil and serene—-offering such a picturesque view. We were just there on 7/11. Blue sky, refreshing breeze, beautiful trees—not to mention delicious food, refreshing drinks and awesome service. It was almost like being on a catered picnic. I can’t believe this might have been our last meal at this location. Please don’t go!!!!!!!!! 🙁

  5. Horrible new location. And so boring. Why? Why? If you are doing this please at least put a Big Buck Hunter game in there. I may come then. Looks like zzs will be the last avon bar with true local character.
