If you haven’t yet heard, celebrity comedian Joan Rivers has been hurling insults at the Cleveland kidnapping victims on national TV all week. Her latest? “They got to live rent free for more than a decade.”

Nobody is really sure why Rivers is targeting Amanda Berry, Gina DeJesus, and Michelle Knight, the three women who survived 10 years of rape and torture at the hands of Ariel Castro, but the women are pretty upset, and rightfully so.

The attorneys for Berry and DeJesus have said the women are shocked and disappointed at the “hurtful” comments, which began when Rivers compared her daughter’s guest room to the space where Castro held his victims. “Those women in the basement in Cleveland had more space,” she said while on The Today Show earlier this week.

The women are seeking an apology from Rivers, who has already come right out and said she won’t be saying sorry.

They need to “lighten up,” Rivers told TMZ. “One of them has a book deal. Neither are in a psych ward. They’re okay. I bet you within three years one of them will be on Dancing with the Stars,” she said.

Too soon, Joan. Far too soon. In fact, as far as we’re concerned, it will never not be too soon.

Sure it was definitely in poor taste but it wasn’t too soon after incident that Amanda Berry was at Roverfest on stage in Cleveland (which she sought out security and Rover to get on stage) with some guy draped all over her. So as pertaining to her comment about “Dancing with Stars,” I wouldn’t be shocked!

  4. So how long should she have waited to go to a concert and dance exactly? Since you are the expert? Teenage girls robbed if some of the best years if their lives…tortured, raped, starved, and abused. The way I see it, they are still those little girls, children abused at the hands of a monster and now being mocked by another.

  5. I recently heard her on Stern and she was hurling comments on the little girl who stole her daughters sandwich when she was in elementary school. Still, to this day, she remembers what that little girl did to her daughter and hated on her because of what her daughter went through for not having lunch that day… Now, if this happened to HER friggin daughter, what those girls went through at that house?? I wonder what she’d say about it….if the “tables were turned”. It’s not that it’s “too soon”.. It was uncalled for…

  10. What happened to amanda, gina and michelle is not something to make jokes about. I understand it’s her job to make jokes but this is too offensive to be found funny.

  11. How many jokes would she crack if her daughter was one of the victims being raped and beaten continually for 10 years and if she had a granddaughter that was a product of those rapes. People are seriously losing their humanity and empathy.

  13. Joan rivers should be sued and i think whatever radio show/talk show she’s on or hosts needs to fire her doesn’t matter what those girls do or how they live the rest of their lives look at what they had to go through for all those years Joan rivers is a pig without class…

  16. I’d practically forgotten that Joan Rivers ever existed until now (shows how long it’s been since she was in any way relevant), but I’m not the least bit surprised by it. Rivers made a career out of being a hateful, vitriolic bitch. This is exactly what I’d expect from her.

Why don’t you go on there so you can make a complete ass out of yourself. Truthfully, I don’t think they would have you because of your hateful and totally ignorant ways. You really should read Michelle Knights book. You might just end up having a heart for once in your life.
