[image-1]With Lakewood City Council having voted unanimously to close Lakewood Hospital, the Cleveland Clinic is moving forward with its wishes to shutter operations “as quickly as practicable.” Inpatient services are being transitioned out of the hospital now, and all will end by Feb. 5.
Outpatient services — radiology, lab work, senior health assessments — will continue until the new family health center is open.
Construction of that new facility will begin at the end of this year. It should open by mid-2018, according to the Clinic.
“All 860 Lakewood Hospital employees are being offered jobs within the Cleveland Clinic health system,” a statement from the Clinic reports. “Approximately 200 of these employees will continue to work in the emergency department and the outpatient services that will remain at Lakewood Hospital until the new family health center opens.”

Many military personnel, former and current, has signed the petition to stop the changeover of the hospital. Is the mayor and city council saying that they do not care about the health and well-being of America’s Heroes as well as their residents?
A delayed ambulance run will cost lives as the emergency vehicles drive across town trying to find an accepting hospital out of the area. Is this what we want for the surrounding communities around Lakewood???
Lakewood is already being called the city of the “No Hospital” mayor.
