The new Crust Pizza Kitchen (2258 Professor Ave., 216-583-0257) quietly opened its doors for service tonight at 4 p.m. Located on the ground floor of the former Komorowski Funeral Home building in the heart of Tremont, the popular pizza, pasta and sub shop debuted with an expanded menu, a full liquor license and a footprint that almost quadruples that of the original spot on Kenilworth.
New appetizers include mozzarella balls wrapped in housemade dough, deep fried and served with marinara. Another version is stuffed with mozz and pepperoni. There’s also a burrata antipasto paired with Italian meats and marinated veggies.

Pizza fans can still grab a slice, design their own pie or order one of nearly a dozen specialty pies.

Crust has always gone above and beyond the call of duty in the desserts department, but things can only improve now that Ange Lupica, formerly with Lola Bistro, has joined the Crust team.

“I’m really excited about it,” says Crust owner Mike Griffin. “She’ll be doing the desserts for the downtown location, Tremont and the bookstore when it opens.”

That bookstore is Visible Voice Books, which will reopen this September in the attractive 1,800-square-foot upper level.

Both Crust and Visible Voice benefit from a large back patio and 26-car parking lot.
