Anyway, the more important thing here is that the most prominent Cleveland athlete had some thoughts as well and he didn’t agree with those Browns players.
After the Cavaliers win over the Orlando Magic on Saturday night, LeBron was asked about the parade by Jason Lloyd of the Athletic. Lloyd tweeted out a snippet of LeBron’s thoughts (there’s more from the conversation available for subscribers to the Athletic).
The older LeBron gets, the more sympathetic he seems to become to the plight of the Cleveland sports fan. This article appears in Jan 3-9, 2018.

If I worked on the Ford assembly line, and people protested outside the gates because the cars I made were pieces of crap, should I care? I didn’t design the car or market it. I just built it every day. But if people stopped buying Fords, then I might have a problem. The guys in orange and brown aren’t even from here and probably don’t live here. They are just hired help. So they need to STFU and go back to work.
It is not the fault of the fans that the Browns can’t even win a single game. They still paid for their tickets (even if they were like $6) and their merchandise. The Browns are getting paid – to do what? Make a laughing stock out of Cleveland? I agree with Grizz65 – they’re not even from here.. they need to play to win, or go home.
What I was trying to say is this: “They’re not from here, and many don’t even reside here much of the year, so it should not matter all that much to the players about the possibility of fans ‘disrespecting Cleveland”…after all, what does Cleveland really mean to these guys?”
Does Cleveland really mean any more to them than, say, where they went to college? Some pros went to more than one college…and many Browns have played in multiple cities during their careers…do they really care what franchise name is on their check when they cash it? How much loyalty to Cleveland should anyone expect them to have? A lot? A little? None whatsoever?
As for playing to win, that’s what they do…even at the high school level. Who the hell plays to lose, in any sport, at any level? Not even losers play to lose. Every athlete wants to win, so “playing to win or going home “is not even on the table…and sounds rather silly.
No, what is pissing off several Browns’ players off is that they somehow feel they were being mocked and ridiculed and laughed-at for going 0-16. That does not seem to be the case…the parade marchers and the floats and the signs were directed more at their coaches and front office people and the jailbird owner., from what I can see. (Was not there personally. Not into extreme cold.) The parade folks knew they are trying their best and trying to win. Obviously, that is no longer enough.
The players should be mocked. Laughing stock of sports ad the worst franchise in NFL history. Don’t worry Jimmy, this idiot fan base will keep buying tickets and merchandise. 0-16…..LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
