Any event isn’t complete without an opening ceremony, which take place at 4 p.m. at the Cleveland Rowing Foundation stage. Along with some opening remarks, the newly refurbished Hart Crane Sculpture is set to be unveiled, as well as some news about the upcoming 50th year anniversary of the Cuyahoga River fire.
The ceremony then runs into the second annual Share the River Ramble. Even if you missed the sign up for the 2.5/5 mile run/walk, you can still head to the Cleveland Rowing Foundation to help celebrate just how far the river has come since 1969. Expect live music between 5 p.m. and 10:30 p.m. from the likes of DJ Red-I, Ray Flanagan and the Authorities as well as closing act Jul Big Green all the way from Akron.
Then, continuing with the river celebration Saturday is the new Blazing Paddles event, a 5.7-mile paddle board race on the Cuyahoga River starting at Rivergate Park. Go ahead and sign up for the race here.
