Brass Tax, the new offering from Cleveland’s alt-country/soul act Cowboy Princess Brigade, completes a three-part project that includes 2024’s Rolling Up Silver and last year’s Nuggets of Gold.
To celebrate its release, Cowboy Princess Brigade will perform at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 11, at the Bop Stop. Since the show falls on lead singer and band leader Ruby Rose Weston’s birthday, there will be cake and refreshments for the audience. Local singer-songwriter Lea Marra will open with a set of her original songs and will later join the Brigade during its set. Other musical guests will join the band as well.
In addition to Weston, the group includes guitarist Nate Pazzo Bocchicchio, keyboardist Prince Joshua Tucker, trombonist Jon Cox, drummer Jeremy McCabe and bassist Ben Coates.
The group recorded the album locally at Signal Flow Studios with producer Chris DiCola (Tropidelic).
“This collection of songs builds upon the previous releases’ bold, sincere songwriting and heartfelt energy,” reads a press release.
With its spirited horns, the song “Angelina” recalls No Doubt, and the soulful “Paper” has a Sharon Jones and the Dap-Kings vibe.

In August, the group will record a full-length LP at SUMA Recording Studio in Painesville.
