This year marks the 20th anniversary of Cleveland Independents, the organization tasked with marketing and promoting independently owned restaurants in the Greater Cleveland area. The group’s signature campaign, Cleveland Restaurant Week, begins Monday, March 2 and runs through Saturday, March 14.

The twice-a-year ritual pops up at more than 30 participating restaurants, each of which offers special three-course prix-fixe menus for one low price. That price is generally $39, but participating restaurants and chefs have the option of presenting different formats, pricing and options.

“Cleveland Independents is proud of its members and of Northeast Ohio,” says Laurie Torres, President of Cleveland Independents and owner of Mallorca Restaurant downtown. “Some of the best chefs in the nation are here. Cleveland Restaurant Week gives everyone a chance to sample the best cuisine that this region has to offer.”

As many restaurant operators continue to struggle with a vastly changed industry, one plagued with shifting dining trends, soaring costs, and soft demand, organizations like Cleveland Independents are more important than ever.

“It is a testimonial to the residents of Northeast Ohio that through the many changes that have occurred locally and nationally, our independent restaurants have remained strong,” Torres adds. “We thank everyone who supports this very important community and hope we see many of you during Cleveland Restaurant Week.”
