Battr (910 Literary Rd., 216-202-6157) opened in Tremont during the summer of 2023, bringing to the neighborhood an exciting new dessert-themed destination. The concept transforms popular confections like Honk Kong bubble waffles, French crepes and creamy Italian gelato into unforgettable dessert creations.
The success of the first store motivated owner Issa Elkhatib to search for a second location. He found just the spot in Lakewood, a few steps from Rozi’s Wine House. Crews have been working since November to transform a modest storefront into a new flagship home for Battr.
“The Lakewood location is our first branded location,” says Elkhatib. “It’s an entirely different design. Tremont was basically our proof of concept. We plan on opening additional locations and the goal is for every new location to look like Lakewood or a variation of it.”
At 1,750 square feet, the new location (15000 Detroit Ave.) is nearly triple the size of the original, providing some much needed kitchen space and ground-floor seating, unlike Tremont where guests must climb stairs to reach the dining area.
Since opening nearly three years ago, Battr has upped its game and elevated the desserts, says Elkhatib.
“They are a lot louder and more flamboyant. We’re more meticulous with how we place our toppings to make them more Instagram-friendly.”
Desserts like Three Broomsticks Butterbeer joins gelato shakes, bubble tea, coffee drinks and flavored ice lattes.
Battr Lakewood will host its grand opening on July 3rd, but will likely open its doors later this month for what they are calling its soft opening.
