The Literary Tavern (1031 Literary Rd., 216-862-1916) in Tremont opened a few months prior to Covid. The restaurant not only survived the pandemic but continues to thrive thanks to a killer vibe, solid food, tasty cocktails, late-night service and a rock-solid staff that’s been there from the start.
In addition to “the Lit,” owner Ross Valenti operates a pair of long-running Broadview Heights restaurants, D’Agnese’s and Cantine. Next Monday, Valenti will add LittleLit (1100 W. Royalton Rd.) to the same strip.
Just as he had done with Literary Tavern, Valenti spared no expense to completely transform an interior to achieve his vision. The owner, working with Lakewood-based Scalish Construction, reworked a former Subway restaurant into a one-of-a-kind space that he describes as a “retro-futuristic diner bar.” The sleek and modern spot features a lengthy counter with an open kitchen that doubles as the bar in the front portion of the space.
As the name implies, the new spot takes some cues from its big sister in Tremont.
“It’s a little Lit,” says Valenti. “But it’s also a little lit.”
When it opens next week, LittleLit will offer lunch, dinner and late-night service on weekends. To eat there will be single and double smash burgers on potato buns. The OKC burger comes with grilled onions, sharp American cheese and comeback sauce. There’s a pastrami sandwich on rye. Diners have a choice between all-beef Vienna hot dogs and Chicago-style beef and duck fat dogs with natural casing. Those dogs are served plain, with ketchup, mustard and onion, or Polish Boy-style with BBQ sauce, slaw and beef-tallow fries. Rounding out the menu are a few salads and grain bowls,
Like the Lit, LittleLit will offer a stellar lineup of cocktails alongside beer and wine selections.
