Early ’90s alt outfit Sugar played the Agora on Friday, October 9th to a very enthusiastic crowd.  Originally active from 1992 to 1995, the band dissolved amicably after three successful years as a band.

Led by ex-Husker Du frontman Bob Mould, the trio got back together in late 2025, touring ostensibly on a nostalgia-laden set of tunes, with a newly-recorded song “House of Dead Memories” as a hook.

David Barbe (bass, vocals) and drummer Malcolm Travis backed Mould on lead vocals and guitar.

Ex-Jawbone frontman J. Robbins opened with a thirty-five-minute trove of solo material. Robbins, a producer as well as artist, warmed up the crowd before Sugar played its ninety-minute set.
