Punk legends L7 performed at the Globe Iron on Tuesday evening. Formed in 1985 by frontwoman Donita Sparks and lead guitarist Suzi Gardner, the band stayed together until the early aughts, releasing several acclaimed albums. Disbanding in 2001, the outfit reformed after a 13-year hiatus and continued their streak of subversive behavior that made them popular almost thirty years before.

After announcing their Last Hurrah tour earlier this year, one including all four original members, the band suffered a tragedy as founding bassist Jennifer Finch died from cancer in August.

The quartet decided to continue with their tour with occasional member Janis Tanaka filling Finch’s role on bass.

The venue was packed Tuesday night. Most of the crowd seemed to be fans that adored the band way back when, representing Gen X with throwback concert shirts and gray hair.

Minneapolis-spawned VIAL opened with a short set. The trio, fronted by KT Branscom and vocalist Katie Fischer behind the kit, offered an energetic thirty-minute foray into modern punk.
