The co-host of numerous popular podcasts, Big Jay Oakerson has consistently toured and released new material over the course of a two decade-long career. His recent hour-long special, Dog Belly, finds him opening with some crowd work before launching into bits about “girl drunk” and how calling yourself an “adult” is a cliche. This weekend, he returns to Hilarities, where he performs at 7 tonight. He has shows scheduled through Saturday at the club.

Christmas Around the World
This special event that takes place from today through Saturday at Crushers Stadium will feature a tubing hill, a miniature golf course, entertainment, a 52-foot Christmas tree, and a special Glockenspiel adapted for the holiday season. Wild Winter Lights
The Cleveland Metroparks Zoo has brought back its holiday light event, and the bright spectacle features more than 1.5 million lights across holiday-themed areas including Enchanted Forest, Swan Lake, Candy Lane and Polar Pathway. The event takes place from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m.today through Saturday.

Annual Free Weekend

Each year at about this time, the Grog Shop in Cleveland Heights opens ups its doors for a free weekend of shows. Tonight at 9, Liquid Images, Louse and PIZZ take the stage. Shows also take place tomorrow and Sunday with a different group of local acts.

Mary Defer: Secret Family Opening Reception
Local artist Mary Defer explores her family history in the new exhibition, Secret Family, using the discovery of this family secret as a springboard to explore the “slow violence” (a term coined by scholar Rob Nixon) of generational trauma. The exhibit opens tonight with a reception that takes place from 5 to 8 at Praxis Fiber Workshop.

David Lucas
Known for delivering roasts, this comedian who’s opened for the likes of Louis C.K., Joe Rogan and Tony Hinchcliffe performs at 7 and 9:30 tonight and at 6:30 and 9 tomorrow night at the Funny Bone.

Colin Mochrie & Brad Sherwood
The two comedians bring their latest show, Asking for Trouble, to the Akron Civic Theatre. The guys improvise improvise new material every night from audience suggestions and participation, and they’ll even write and sing a song about Akron just for tonight’s show, which begins at 7:30.

Oh, Canada
Paul Schrader directs this drama based on a Russell Banks novel. It centers on a Canadian-American documentary filmmaker Leonard Fife, one of the 60,000 draft evaders who fled from the U.S. to Canada during the Vietnam War. In his late seventies and dying of cancer in Montreal, Fife agrees to a final, candid interview to reveal secrets he’s kept hidden for decades. The movie makes its Cleveland premiere tonight at 7 at the Cleveland Institute of Art Cinematheque.

The locally based Pink Floyd tribute act plays tonight and tomorrow night at 7 at the Agora. The shows celebrate the group’s 30th anniversary as well as the 50th anniversary of the Floyd album Wish You Were Here.

Comic Club | Club de Cómic
Today from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Cleveland Museum of Art Community Arts Center, artist Kobe Saunders will help guests explore the long history of sequential art through various genres and cultures, including newspaper comic strips, American superhero comics and graphic novels, Japanese manga, and media adaptations (film and television). Admission is free.

An Evening of John Prine Songs
Local singer-songwriters Michael Sean McDonald, GS Harper, Tracy Marie, Mark Freeman and Bill Lestock pay tribute to the late John Prine at this special show at the Treelawn. The show begins at 8 p.m. There’s no cover, but donations will be given to the local family that has a child with cancer.

The Rocky Horror Picture Show
The Rocky Horror Picture Show, the 1975 film that still draws an exuberant, costumed crowd that likes to throw rice and dry toast and sing along to the songs in the movie, still draws big crowds to local showings. Expect a throng to show up for tonight’s screening that takes place at 9:30 p.m. at the Cedar Lee Theatre. Tickets cost $12.

Maura Rogers & the Bellows
This local singer-songwriter writes autobiographical tunes that chronicle personal details from her life such as her health issues (she underwent a kidney transplant a few years back), and she regularly alternates between rock and folk. Lea Marra & the River Boys and Alec Stewart open. The show begins at 7:15 p.m. at the Beachland Ballroom, and it doubles as a birthday party celebration.

The Room
Thanks to The Disaster Artist, the James Franco movie about the making of the cult classic The Room, the film’s popularity has soared. The film that features writer, director and star Tommy Wiseau screens at 10 tonight at the Cedar Lee Theatre in Cleveland Heights.

The Sammy DeLeon and Jackie Warren Quartet
A master timbales player, Sammy DeLeon has appeared in New York, Chicago, Miami, San Juan and many points in between. Formerly the musical director of Impacto Nuevo, he’s led his own group since 1996. Equally adept in Latin jazz, salsa and merengue, DeLeon is a local treasure. He performs with Jackie Warren tonight at 8 at the B-Side Lounge in Cleveland Heights.

Paul Kovac’s 3rd Annual New Year’s Jam

Memorial for Jamie Klimek — Music & Memories Honoring a Cleveland Legend
Guitarist Jamie Klimek, part of Cleveland’s great punk scene since it started in the early ’70s, sadly passed away last year at age 73. This event will honor Kilmek, a member of Mirrors and the Styrenes. It begins at 4 p.m. at the Beachland Ballroom.
