Classical music pairs with fine wine tonight for the Cleveland Institute of Music’s sophomore outing of Uncorked!, in the Flats. And while students musicians hit the right notes by the masters, wine connoisseurs can sip samples from 20 vintners and feast on grub by 18 Northeast Ohio restaurants. “This is a concert with a food- and wine-tasting,” says Susan Schwartz, the institute’s spokeswoman. “Our musicians are definitely not just providing background music. These pieces will catch your attention.” Between glasses of Little Penguin, Beringer, and Chateau St. Jean wines, the party also spotlights a silent auction. The money will help pay for scholarships, outreach programs, and an occasional free concert by the students during the school year. “People couldn’t stop talking about the first time we did this. We’re happy to have struck the right chord with all kinds of different people,” says Schwartz. “It brings new sounds and tastes to your attention.” Toast your favorite classical piece with a great wine from 6 to 8:30 tonight at Windows on the River, 2000 Sycamore Street on the West Bank of the Flats.
