Damone singer Noelle LeBlanc can’t legally buy a drink, but she’s already a jaded veteran of the music industry. “I’ve always been skeptical of record companies,” says the 20-year-old leader of the Boston quartet. “It bums me out.” She has reason to be bummed. After From the Attic, its 2003 debut, stiffed, Damone (named after Fast Times at Ridgemont High‘s fast-talking ticket scalper) was dropped from its label.

In response, the band foreswore its punkier sound and showed up on a new label with a new CD, Out Here All Night. Damone now sounds like Mötley Crüe, fronted by rock’s toughest woman since Joan Jett (with a little of Ronnie Spector’s sexy sassiness tossed in there for good measure). “The songs just came naturally this time,” says LeBlanc. “We wanted them to be catchy and powerful.” All Night combines ’80s-style power ballads, glam guitar riffs, and last-call sing-alongs — all of which LeBlanc credits to no longer being a teenager. “I used to have a lot of anxiety in social situations,” she says. “My psychological state of mind is much more at ease now.”
