28 Great and Underrated Things About Cleveland

Does Cleveland get its proper due? There are endless arguments about that, but we all know there are hidden gems and uniquely local things that make the city stand out but that some might take for granted. To that point: Reddit user AdNumerous6824 recently posed the question 'What is the most underrated thing Cleveland has to offer.' The responses were far and wide and showed a very good sampling of the good things our city has.

The Cleveland Orchestra is easily one of the top ten on Earth. You pretty much can't find a list of great orchestras without Cleveland showing up in the top five or so.

Our aquarium. It's not the greatest, or the biggest. But, they have one of (possibly THE only) the only breeding programs for weedy sea dragons in the US. Go to another aquarium and see a weedy sea dragon? Extremely high chances it came from here.

Pizza. The pizza in Cleveland is by far the best I've ever had, and that's not just a biased point of view.
There are a lot of places in the greater Cleveland area that offer really crap pizza, but the joints downtown, do it better than NYC, Chicagoland and LA.
What is New York pizza? It's basically a cardboard slab with melted cheese.
What is Chicago pizza? It's a fucking casserole.
What is LA pizza? It's a lot of things, it being food is questionable.
Cleveland pizza is subtle, and delicious. Truly home grown by our Italian and Balkan immigrants. Just outside of the Browns, I'd sooner die on this hill, of our pizza supremacy.

CVNP is underrated for sure. It’s free (which is rare for a NP), has a train for those who aren’t inclined for walking a lot, and hiking trails for those who are. Plus, going at different times of year provides a new perspective on different areas..

Hospitals …. Bum ticker ? Roll into the Clinic at 0600, then have what is damn near a conveyer line of heart bypass operations running… it’s crazy. Hyper rich people come from all over to get their hearts fixed here.
