Last night, Fall Out Boy literally set the stage on fire with a show that sent fans into a frenzy of nostalgia and unbridled excitement. The iconic pop-punk band made a stop at Blossom Music Center Tuesday night in support of their latest album, So Much (for) Stardust, which came out in March of 2023, their first release since 2018’s Mania.
The band came with support from the UK’s Bring Me the Horizon headed up by Oli Sykes, who warmed the crowd up with screamo anthem classics like “Happy Song,, “Throne,” and “DiE4u.” CARR and Royal & the Serpent also performed as support.
From the moment the lights dimmed, the energy in the air was electric. Fans of all ages showed up in their darkest eyeliner and emo-best to scream, mosh, and sing along to all of the hits lead singer Patrick Stump belted out.
The setlist was a carefully crafted journey through Fall Out Boy’s discography, seamlessly blending old favorites like “Sugar, We’re Goin Down” and “Dance, Dance” with newer anthems like “Centuries” and “Love From the Other Side.” Each song was accompanied by bright light displays, and eyebrow-singeing pyrotechnics including Pete Wentz’s famous flamethrower bass guitar.
To fill out the already epic setlist, Fall Out Boy included a couple of welcomed, but not necessary, covers like Journey’s “Don’t Stop Believin’,” Ozzy’s “Crazy Train,” and even a debut of the Leonard Cohen classic “Hallelujah” featuring Stump on piano.
The interaction between Fall Out Boy and fans created an intimate and memorable atmosphere, making the concert feel like a reunion with old friends. Fall Out Boy’s performance was a celebration of both their enduring legacy and their continued evolution as artists. Their ability to resonate with fans across generations is a testament to the timelessness of their music.
With hearts full of gratitude and ears ringing with the echoes of their music, fans left Blossom Music Center knowing they had just experienced a night they would never forget. It was never just a phase.
