This Historic Home in Brecksville Is on the Market for $600,000

In Brecksville, the historic house at 8937 Highland Drive, known as the Knowlton Bourne Home, just hit the market for $599,900. The home is on the National Register of Historic Places.

The home was originally built in 1879 by Dr. William Knowlton, a renowned physician who fought in the Civil War. He was also chairman of obstetrics at Wooster University. The home also served as his medical office for many years.

The home was renovated in 2021 by the current owners, restoring how it may have looked in the 19th century, albeit with modern amenities and appliances (and of course its thoroughly modern swimming pool). Amy Wax, a noted color expert, was hired to bring back some of the paint colors that may have been used in the home's early years.
