Cocktail in hand, Ellen Poorman stares out the window at the falling snow at Lava Lounge's weekday Martini Happy Hour. "It's just so calm and peaceful in here," she says. "Plus, I can't find a martini at this price anywhere in town." The club slaps a $5 happy-hour price on its six specialty martinis, which usually sell for $9. Besides the Pineapple Bomber (Stoli vanilla, Bacardi coconut, banana liqueur, and pineapple juice) and the Cosmo Ohranj (Stoli Ohranj, Cointreau, and fresh lime, orange, and cranberry juices), Poorman opts for the Bomb Pop, a raspberry-flavored mix of Bacardi Razz, grenadine, blue Curaçao, and 7-Up. "It sends chills up my back," says Poorman. "I'd rather this give me the chills than the wind outside."
