Lecture with Q&A: Holocaust Torah Scrolls: Legacies, Forgeries, Memory and Trauma
When: Wed., March 13, 7-9 p.m. 2019
As the second World War approached, many Jews hid their congregational Torah scrolls for safekeeping. Join Alanna Cooper for a lecture that explores American Jews’ intense interest in Holocaust scrolls, the rituals designed to honor them, and the ethical questions around their possible misuse, as well as the implications of a forgery market.
