A couple of days ago, Reddit user anlk took to the social site in hopes of satiating a desire to find some stellar new sub shops here in the Cleveland area.

Under the headline Best Places to Get Subs in Cleveland, anlk posted: “Girlfriend and I want a good sub and sick of the normal chains. I live in Mayfield Heights so some place within a 30 minute drive of there would be awesome.”

The response has been astounding. Over 100 people have commented on the post, sharing their experiences, advice, and favorite menu items. From those responses, anlk has compiled a list of the top recommendations.

    Hi! I couldn’t help but notice that you might be a bit new to the internet, so allow me to give you a brief tour. Reddit is a “forum” for general discussion on the internet, often broken down into smaller and more specific topics called “subreddits”, so that people can talk about whatever hobby or interest it is that distracts them from the fact that they and everyone else they know will die someday! Now, you may be thinking to yourself, “I’ve heard this term “forum” before! This can’t be the first example of such a thing! Well Ross Buckingham my friend, you would be absolutely correct. In fact, in ancient Rome the word “forum” was used to refer to a public space, often in the center of a city where people could come to trade goods or talk politics, or even sell their family members into slavery! Reddit serves a similar purpose in a lot of ways, except instead of a bushel of apples or human lives, most people share jokes and pictures of adorable cats with each other. Sometimes, they might even ask for a sandwich shop recommendation!

    Now, I know what you’re going to say. “But kind stranger! Though I appreciate the thankless effort and vast sums of knowledge that you’ve bestowed on me today with no care for yourself or your own reward, how does this relate to my baseless and stupid accusation?”

    Well Buck, (can I call ya Buck?), allow me to break down what happened here for you in what some people call “moron-speak”, but what I prefer to call “layman’s terms” (I’m diplomatic like that).

    CleveScene: (at 1am, a time whose filler news should not even need cited because you’re not going to remember this shit next week when you’re trying to fend off reality with a small twig anyway) Hey everybody! These are cool places to get a sandwich according to this specific group of reddit users! Heck, just to be safe, I’ll toss in the guy’s username so he gets some credit. Go get a sandwich!
