We get it, the long winters suck. But we live in Cleveland so we should be used to it at least. And why not take advantage of the good parts? Hanging by the fire with your beverage of choice is always a beloved pastime over the cold weather months. Might as well hit the town while you’re doing it.

Griffin Cider House & Gin Bar 12401 Madison Ave., Lakewood When this bar opened in Lakewood in 2015 by Brit expat Richard Read, it became the first cider house in the region. Prosperity Social Club 1109 Starkweather Ave., Cleveland Cozy and retro, this former workingman’s watering hole in Tremont serves up food, booze, and a bowling machine along with live music. Rising Star 710 Jefferson Ave., Cleveland Coffee connoisseurs sing the praises of Rising Star baristas, who are as knowledgeable as their keenly sourced coffee is potent. Each cup is meticulously brewed to order using beans straight from the onsite roaster. We’re not surprised that after just eight years in business, the successful shop has already expanded to seven different locations. Michaelangelo’s 2198 Murray Hill Rd., Cleveland Chef Michael Annandono’s seasonal menu is built on luxurious ingredients. Whether it’s the prosciutto-wrapped wild-boar chops, homemade veal-stuffed cannelloni, or tagliolini tossed in a ragout of duck, veal, and guinea fowl, the food transcends ordinary Italian while still having that traditional feel. The Fairmount 2448 Fairmount Blvd., Cleveland Heights Located in the Cedar Hill neighborhood, the Fairmount takes pub food to the next level. With a warm and lively atmosphere and one of the best patios in town, you’re missing out if you haven’t been. The inside is nice and cozy, especially if you get a spot in front of the fireplace. Burntwood Tavern Solon, Rocky River, Chagrin Falls, North Olmsted and Brecksville Locations This local chain that now has ten locations started off as just a neighborhood tavern and restaurant in a small building in Chagrin Falls. And while the restaurant from the Art Pour Restaurant Group has blown up, they have maintained their cozy and small town feel by putting a fireplace in most locations. 17 River Grille 17 River St., Chagrin Falls Located overlooking the waterfalls of the Chagrin River in quaint downtown Chagrin Falls, Jekyll’s Kitchen turned into 17 River in 2020. Stone Mad Pub 1306 West 65th St, Cleveland Everyone who talks about this Detroit Shoreway neighborhood spot mentions two things; the bocce ball court and the beautiful patio. Saucy Brew Works 2885 Detroit Ave., Cleveland This “self-serve” pizza place and brewery is one of the shining gems of the new and improved Hingetown neighborhood of Ohio City. The former machine shop boasts a giant space that can fit close to 200 guests. They always have five or six beers on draught, with a current focus on sours and fruity beers like their Peach Guava American wild ale. The Oak Barrel 5975 Canal Rd., Valley View Stepping into this Ohio City bar is like being transported in time back to the 1920’s, where you needed a password to enter the bar.
