When Brandon Chrostowski relocated and consolidated his Edwins restaurants into the Nighttown property in Cleveland Heights, he left two vacancies at Shaker Square. One of those spaces – the former Edwins Too spot – officially has a new tenant.

Akin Affrica, the operator behind Zanzibar Soul Fusion, Cleveland Breakfast Club, The Vegan Club and multiple Angie’s Soul Café locations, states that he is adding a new restaurant to his Soul Republic Hospitality Group.

Affrica is partnering with Cleveland Browns legend Josh Cribbs to open Sazani Oceana (13220 Shaker Sq.), a contemporary full-service seafood restaurant. The former Edwins Too (and Fire Food and Drink) space is receiving a complete makeover that will include new booths, lighting, paint and restrooms. The carpet will be stripped away to reveal the original hardwood floors.

Chef Joshua Scherger will oversee a menu loaded with fresh seafood choices, but also a few beef, chicken and vegan items.

The goal is to be open by Valentine Day, says Affrica.

No word on who or what concept will snag the original Edwins location at the Square.
