Are you ready for a little game of restaurant musical chairs?

Last summer, Wild Mango announced that it was leaving its home at Legacy Village in Lyndhurst, a space it had occupied since 2019.

Simultaneously, we learned that Saffron Patch would take its place, shifting from its long-standing home in Shaker Heights to that east-side shopping plaza. That restaurant is slated to take flight very soon. (More on that story next week.)

And today, we can share that Blu Basil (180 W. Streetsboro St., 330-653-6640), an Indian restaurant that launched a few years back in Hudson, will open a new location in the former Saffron Patch property in Shaker. The success of the first restaurant, which owner Amritpal Kaur opened in a former Jaipur Junction space, lead to a swift expansion to Chagrin Falls (8545 E. Washington St., 440-299-3299) last year.

Blu Basil offers an expansive variety of Indian dishes spread across categories that include appetizers, vegetarian dishes, tandoor-cooked foods, chicken, lamb, goat, biryani and breads.

The announcement comes as great news to residents in that area who were missing a full-service Indian restaurant since Saffron Patch closed in December.

According to management, Blu Basil (20126 Chagrin Blvd.) in Shaker is expected to open by mid- to late-February.
