Owners of the Tremont gem A Cookie and A Cupcake made some big announcements this week: First, they’re moving from their quaint Kenilworth location to a larger storefront at 2681 West 14th Street to accommodate the ever-growing demand for cupcakes, and to integrate their other business, Churned Ice Cream Shop, into one central location.

The efficiency of running a single cake-and-ice cream shop was too tempting to pass by, co-owner SynDee Bergen tells Cleveland.com. (We’ll admit it sounds pretty tempting from a consumer standpoint, too.) “We will have our current cupcake and cake selection along with our unique ice cream by the scoop or pint,” Bergen says.

The new digs will also offer a sizeable seating increase, plus a 20-foot outdoor patio, where we’re already planning to spend many a happy summer day.

Secondly, this week, Bergen and co-owner Wendy Thompson unveiled plans for an East-side location, which is slated to occupy a retail space between Zoup! and Piada Italian Street Food at 13953 Cedar Road in South Euclid.

“We’ve always wanted to expand, and actually we’ve been looking for about two years,” Bergen says. We couldn’t find anything that gave us the amount of space we needed that could also meet our cost-point,” she tells Cleveland.com. “After all, we can only charge so much for a cupcake.”

Folks can look for a March opening for the East-side storefront, and a February opening for the West 14th Street location.

  1. Great cupcakes and great people. Looking forward to visiting both locations. I travel from the east side for the best cupcakes in town. Congratulations on the new locations

  2. Their Salted Caramel and PB Lovers are the two best cupcakes in Cleveland. #scoreboard #face #NNNNboomGoesTheDynamite

  3. Best of luck to them at the new location. They should watch out though as their new landlord is a huge crook. I cross my fingers for anyone that has to deal with Marko Fourtounis! Yikes!
