Without warning, Inferno and Rum Runners in the Flats have both shuttered.
“This decision was carefully made after evaluation of our operations and the economic pressures currently affecting the hospitality and nightlife industry. While we explored multiple options, continuing under current market conditions has proven unsustainable,” management said in a statement.
Inferno, initially called Dante’s Inferno, opened in 2017. Later pivoting from the original Dante Boccuzzi concept focused on quick-serve, made-to-order pizzas to a club, it became a hotspot for DJs and dancing. Rum Runner, a revival of a 1980s-`90s Flats mainstay, opened in 2022.
Both were operated by Sly Restaurant Group, a hospitality group that also is behind Velvet Tango Room, Slyman’s Tavern and Goma.
“We are deeply thankful to our guests, staff, DJs, partners, and the Cleveland community for the support, energy, and loyalty you have shown throughout the years,” management added. “Your presence, your celebrations, and your spirit made both venues what they were.”
