Some sad news to pass along this morning for anyone who likes sandwiches and, specifically, likes the sandwiches from Gabe’s Deli. The shop will be closing its doors on October 7th, the owners announced on Facebook, which means there’s still time to stop by the shop that brought “San Fran-style deli” to Cleveland.  It’d been open just north of a year.

Gabe's Deli will close it's doors for good on October 7th! We would like to thank all the regular customers & friends…

  1. That is disappointing. Really kick-ass sandwiches and nice people. Hope they can regroup and open somewhere else.

  2. So apparently there’s a deli, named Gabe’s Deli, in Lakewood, where I live, and it has been open for north of a year. But will only be open for two more weeks. But there’s no mention of what street it’s on, or its address. So, thanks, news.

  3. Once again Cleveland Scene you have mislabeled the area between 117 and the Detroit Shoreway as Lakewood. We are CLEVELAND. Edgewater Neighborhood to be exact. Gabe’s has been a great asset and will be sorely missed.

  4. And please update your Neighborhood Selection Options to reflect Edgewater- not just Ohio City Detroit Shoreway. Thank you

  5. Gabe’s is at 10429 Clifton Blvd right next to the Clifton wine and martini bar I would recommend getting the tower city sandwich to split with a friend! It’s amazing! So sad to hear they are closing. 😭
