Late last year, Hangry Brands added Edison’s Pub (2373 Professor St.) in Tremont to its rapidly expanding portfolio of Cleveland bars and restaurants. At that time, Hangry founder Jason Beudert made a pledge to preserve the 40-year-old bar in structure and in spirit.
“Edison’s is a landmark,” Beudert told Scene. “It’s been there 40 years and we’re not messing with it. We’re just honored to continue the tradition.”
What Beudert didn’t know prior to the acquisition was the existence of a second-floor space that would prove ideal for an expansion project down the road. As of today, that project has a name and concept: Edison’s Hidden Tiki, a tiki-themed speakeasy.
Visitors will access the second-floor space through a doorway inside Edison’s Pub. The intimate lounge will accommodate approximately 20 guests. Like other Hangry Concepts, such as STEAK, Jolene’s and Geraci’s Slice Shop, the décor will be immersive, interactive and “over-the-top.”
There will be a menu of tiki-style cocktails, slices from Lil Ronnie’s pizza next door, and sushi from STEAK down the block.
“Hidden Tiki – and tiki in general – will be a fantastic addition to the walkable options up and down Tremont’s Professor Avenue,” says Julia Licastro, Partner and Vice-President of Hangry Brands. “It was a happy surprise.”
The goal is to open the doors by the middle of 2026. When it does open, patrons will be able to reserve seats but the barstools will be walk-in only.
