It’s not everyday that a restaurant operator moves a 10-year-old business to a new location a couple hundred yards away, but that’s precisely what Fadi Daoud is doing in Avon.

Daoud operates Hecks locations in Ohio City, Avon and Beachwood. He also owns Antica, an Italian concept that has locations in Avon and Beachwood. After Melt Bar & Grilled closed its Avon store in the same shopping plaza as Hecks and Antica, Daoud decided to claim the property (35514 Detroit Rd.) for himself. His plan is to shift Hecks from its current location, where it has operated since 2015, to the former Melt location in the coming months.

“It kind of made sense to us,” he explains. “We’re outgrowing the space. Business is great, we just need a bigger space.”

The move buys Daoud more space all around, including a private dining room and all-season patio with garage doors.

“We’re doing an overall redo of the space,” he adds. “Instead of, you know, redoing the same space, I’m like let’s just open a new space. And it’s literally 50 feet away from Antica.”

Work already has begun on the new Hecks home. The plan is to open there in February, with business as usual at the original location right up until that time.
