Malley’s Chocolates is doing away with their old rewards program and launching a brand new one on March 1.

The change comes just in time for Easter, their busiest candy season of the year. The company says a new VIP loyalty card program will give customers 15 percent off gift box assortments and dine-in ice cream purchases. Card holders will also receive member-only perks like coupons and secret sales.

The new card will cost you $10 a year and is non-transferable. Customers who bought a $5 loyalty card within the past year can continue to use it until the card expires, but cards bought before Dec. 1, 2013 will expire on Monday.

Malleys’ current loyalty program also gives cardholders 15 percent off purchases, but it doesn’t come with additional discounts and perks.

Stop by a Malley’s Chocolates store for more info about the new cards, or email program director Karen Schauer at kschauer@malleys.com. You can also call their customer service line at (800) 275-6255.

  1. This change is actually a much worse deal than it used to be. Prior to this change, men’s paid $5 once, and received 15% of ALL purchases. Now you only receive the discount on a select few (more expensive) items and occasionally when they have a “secret sale” which, by the way, will exclude everyone else who normally could partake in the holiday chocolate sales. It’s actually a terrible change, and no one should sign up for this new “loyalty”program as Malley’s is, very disappointingly, not showing much loyalty and gratitude to their customers.

  2. The original Preferred Customer cards which were purchased were supposed to NEVER EXPIRE. If you are a Preferred Customer card holder, call Malleys and ask them to honor their original deal!

No Preferred Customer card, no Malleys! If Malleys refuses to honor their original deal, I will take my chocolate shopping business elsewhere!

  3. How is it legal to sell you a “lifetime” rewards deal…but then pull it after a few years? Isn’t that false advertising?

  4. Yes, its sfalse advertising, Attorney general has one complaint with Malley. hmmm wonder if it has to do with this. Hold on to your Malley cards ,,,and find out.

  5. I Iam very disappointed in this new policy. I picked up $60.00 worth of chocolate a week ago and just found out about this change. the clerk told me i wouldn’t have been able to use my card anyway because I didn’t have the box candy. Iam not renewing my card.

  6. I am very disappointed in Malley’s as they wouldn’t honor my old rewards card (yes, it never was to expire). They use the word “loyalty” which they shouldn’t use, what a joke. I called their offices and complained to no avail. What Malley’s should have done was honor the old rewards cards for existing “loyal” customers and use the new program for new customers. We use to call this being “grandfathered” into a program or change. That’s back when businesses “honored” loyal customers not nickle and dimed them with fees. I’m not shopping there anymore nor is anyone in my large family tree.
