Mmmmm, steak. While dining trends have changed and developed throughout the years, there are some traditions that will never leave the dining scene. And the American steakhouse is one of those tried and true institutions. Luckily for us in Northeast Ohio, there are a ton of great options when it comes to traditional steakhouses. According to Yelp, these are the 20 best steakhouses in the Greater Cleveland area.

Red, the Steakhouse Multiple Locations “Best steak I’ve had in this area. Been there twice and both times were stellar. Sides were also excellent. We had a Niman Ranch 14oz. Strip with their peppercorn horseradish sauce. Risotto with leeks and chorizo, and green beans with pan fried pancetta. Bearnaise sauce was perfect. Tried their crabcake and it was very good. Cocktails are very good but a bit pricey. The service is great, very friendly knowledgeable staff,” Ray J. on Yelp Photo via Scene Archives
Crosswinds Grille 5653 Lake Rd. East, Geneva “We had such a great meal! The service was excellent. The food was excellent. Best meal I’ve had at a restaurant this year. I had the ribeye and my wife had the mushroom ravioli. Both were great! We almost let a couple of bad reviews scare us away. I’m so glad we chose this place! A great experience! Worth every penny!!!” Jay F. on Yelp Photo via @CrosswindsGrille/Instagram
ML Tavern 34105 Chagrin Blvd., Moreland Hills “Had a great meal at the ML Tavern. The restaurant was set up very nicely to keep everyone separate. They have a nice drink menu with a great signature Manhattan. Came here for steak and was not disappointed. The steaks were perfectly cooked and the sides were very tasty. Been to most of the high profile steak places in the area and the ML was as good or better and much less pretentious,” Brian W. on Yelp Photo via Scene Archives
Diamond Grille 77 West Market St., Akron “My husband and I decided to try a restaurant that we had never tried before. The Diamond Grill was an excellent choice. The service, food and ambiance was definitely five star. Our server Anna was amazing and 100% invested in making sure our evening was perfect..We have raved about our experience to friends, family and social media so that others will support this Akron landmark. We will definitely return over and over again,” Roz C. on Yelp Photo via Diamond Grille/Facebook
Ken Stewart’s Lodge 1911 North Cleveland Massilon Rd., Akron “I came here with my family for a special occasion since I and all my siblings are in town. The food was exceptional. Literally no complaints. This restaurant made a rare night out with my family a VERY special one to remember. I would highly recommend this location for birthdays, anniversaries, or any special occasions you wish to celebrate,” Hannah G. on Yelp Photo via @KenStewartsAkron/Instagram
Delmonico’s Steakhouse 6001 Quarry Ln., Independence “The service here was great. Lobster bisque is the best I’ve ever had. I frequent high end steak houses and the food is as good as any and the dollar value compared to others is more than reasonable! If you are in the Cleveland area I highly recommend this this restaurant,” George L. on Yelp Photo via Delmonico’s Steakhouse/Facebook
Trivs 17100 Royalton Rd., Strongsville “What a hidden gem! This was my first time going and I will definitely be back. Ordered the special which was Halibut and it was fantastic. I don’t remember exactly what they said the breeding consisted of but is was nice and crunchy. Everything we had from the sides to the bread and calamari appetizers were great,” Joe C. on Yelp Photo via Trivs in Strongsville/Facebook
The Marble Room 623 Euclid Ave., Cleveland “Living in the SF Bay Area, including Napa, I have been fortunate enough to have eaten at some of the best restaurants in the United States. I did not know what to expect about this popular spot in Cleveland. Upon arrival we opened the dark heavy door to a room that opened up into a beautiful massive space. The building itself is an old bank that showed its wealth from those days as the architecture was very grand. In all, I believe given the food, the top notch service and ambiance, I think I now rank this as my favorite restaurant ever!” Sheryl M. on Yelp Photo via Scene Archives
Don’s Lighthouse 8905 Lake Ave., Cleveland “This restaurant is solid. A wonderful choice for any occasion. I came at lunch time, but the chef was able to serve me the lump crab appetizer which is on the dinner menu. Happy it was available. The crab was so fresh and they give you a decent amount. It was so good that it did not make it to a photo. I also opted for the lobster salad. What a great choice,” Nefeterri W. on Yelp Photo via Hyde Park Prime Steakhouse/Facebook
Cleveland Chop 824 St. Clair Ave., Cleveland “If I ever give into insanity long enough to open a restaurant it would undoubtedly be a steakhouse. The business model is just too tempting – outta sight pricing, ala carte everything, premium pours from the bar and a dark masculinity that literally never really needs to be updated… and… a brand new Ferrari for the owner. Cleveland Chop checked all the right boxes and is gonna be around for quite awhile. Nothing out of the ordinary but just a great steakhouse,” Michael N. on Yelp Photo via @ClevelandChop/Instagram
Nemo Grille 36976 Detroit Rd., Avon “Service was A+. We split a bottle of wine and ordered the Hungarian Peppers as an appetizer, split a wedge salad, and got entrees of short ribs and scallops. Wouldn’t have changed a single thing about any of them! Highly recommended. The complimentary creme brûlée was icing on the cake!! Will recommend without hesitation!!” Peg M. on Yelp Photo via Nemo Grille/Facebook
Ferris Steakhouse 2589 Wooster Rd., Rocky River “Mouth-watering steaks! The best service you’ve ever had! And friendly people everywhere. I have to say I have found my home steak house. Ferris Steakhouse is a perfect go-to for an excellent meal and a really wonderful time. And let me talk about those appetizers. The Irish egg rolls are tasty. The portions are huge. And the value is hard to beat. We will see you soon because we will be back again and again!,” Cathe C. on Yelp Photo by Douglas Trattner
White Oaks 777 Cahoon Rd., Westlake “Another great evening at White Oaks. Since we hadn’t been out for a while I dressed up for dinner at this old supper club-style establishment with excellent food. The patrons lean to an older group, but all ages are represented. We finished the specials getting the last prime rib and duck dinners. The beef Wellington was excellent, also. With each dinner is potato or rice, and a nice salad. The sweet and sour dressing is delicious. For apps we chose the escargot, Brie cheese in a puffed pastry and clam chowder. Everything was delicious. There is also beer and wine. This is one of our favorite restaurants,” Debra V. on Yelp Photo via Hyde Park Prime Steakhouse/Facebook
Hyde Park Prime Steakhouse Multiple Locations What started off in 1988 as a standalone steakhouse on Coventry Road in Cleveland Heights has turned into 5 different restaurant concepts and 13 Hyde Park’s – including three around Cleveland and one in Akron. And while sometimes chains mean lower quality, this franchise has kept up the quality of their delicious steaks and fancy dining rooms, which are seasoned with their special steak butter. Cabin Club 30651 Detroit Rd., Westlake “So glad we picked this restaurant for our anniversary. The service was phenomenal. We had the raspberry shrimp appetizer (delicious and different). I had the surf and turf (awesome lobster and sauce on the steak) and my wife had the steak Diane and loved it. Got a free dessert too! Would definitely go back!” Jessica R. on Yelp Photo via Cabin Club/Facebook
Timber Lodge 2809 Pearl Rd., Medina “Timber lodge is our favorite place to celebrate! The food is amazing every time (so is our service). Nicole is wonderful as well! Didn’t skip a beat. We plan on bringing our family here as well for special occasions,” Sarah B. on Yelp Photo via Timber Lodge/Facebook
Don’s Pomeroy House 13664 Pearl Rd., Strongsville “I was in town visiting family earlier this week and finally ate at Don’s Pomeroy House. As a teenager (many years ago), I had always thought this place would be real expensive. This restaurant isn’t cheap, but it’s also very well priced for the exceptional level of service you are provided and for the great menu items. I ordered the Surf and Turf which comes with a Six-Ounce Filet Mignon and a Five to Six Ounce Maine Lobster Tail. For sides this dish is typically served with fingerling potatoes and asparagus (I substituted for green beans). The steak was cooked perfectly and super tender. The lobster was delicious and melted in my mouth. As for the actual Don Pomeroy’s House facility, this place has lots of charm and character. The building is beautiful and for those looking for a nice place to go for a quiet, relaxing meal,” Dan W. on Yelp Photo via Don’s Pomeroy House/Facebook
Strip Steakhouse 36840 Detroit Rd., Avon “Phenomenal, out of this world and most tender steaks I’ve ever had! My dining partner and I ordered the stripper and the 6 ounce sirloin filet. Both were amazing and well worth the steep price tags. Leftovers were wonderful as well. The sides we shared were the brussels sprouts and baked potato as well as a spinach salad. Big enough to share for sure! We were passing through the area and did a quick Yelp search and found this gem! Go. Enjoy. But bring your wallet and a empty Belly!” Becca M. on Yelp Photo via @Stripsteakhouse/Instagram
Harry’s Steakhouse 5664 Brecksville Rd., Independence “This restaurant is solid. What a great choice,” Nefeterri W. on Yelp Photo via Harry’s Steakhouse/Facebook
