Based on Derf’s graphic novel about befriending a young Jeffrey Dahmer, who already exhibited psychotic tendencies as teenager while growing up in the Akron area, the film My Friend Dahmer received largely positive reviews upon its release last year.

The film played on the festival circuit, premiering at the Tribeca Film Festival. It would go on to screen at the LA Film Festival, Deauville Film Festival and American Film Festival, and many others. It also had a theatrical release here in town and several screenings at the Capitol Theatre were sold out.

The solid cast features Anne Heche (Donnie Brasco), SAG Award winner Vincent Kartheiser (Mad Men), former Disney star Ross Lynch (Austin & Ally), Alex Wolff (Patriot’s Day) and Dallas Roberts (3:10 To Yuma).

Earlier today, the folks at Filmrise announced that they’ll release the movie on home video on April 10.
