According to a report by the New York Daily News, House of Cards’ star Kate Mara has been cast to play Michelle Knight in an upcoming Lifetime movie based on the captivity of Knight, Amanda Berry and Gina DeJesus on Seymour Ave.

Sony Pictures is at the helm, and producers there “are desperate” for Mara to play Knight, a source told the New York Daily News.

“They feel that Kate would be able to capture Michelle’s vulnerability and psychological pain — something she excelled at as Zoe Barnes.”

(It appears Mara hasn’t officially signed on, only that she’s the current favorite).

The report also says that producers are looking for a “reasonably known” TV actor to portray Ariel Castro. A short list includes Breaking Bad’s David Costabile, who weirdly looks the part, and Emilo Estevez, who does not.

On May 6, it will have been a full year since Amanda, Gina and Michelle were rescued, and their story became an international sensation.

  1. where does it say that Michelle in any way endorses or benefits from this movie? You’re a tool, Jared, for jumping to the worst conclusion.

  2. You’re an ass, Jared. I don’t care how much money she makes – she deserves every single penny and more.

  3. As long as the trio get paid, then all is good. But networks can make end runs to produce flicks, which would be a bad policy for this story.

  4. I don’t think a movie should be made about this at all. Looking more at the movie, why only focus on Michelle Knight? The other girls suffered just as much as she did. ALSO, who in their right mind would let those poor girls relive the horror they went through by watching a movie on Lifetime every Sunday. That’s absolutely ridiculous. I went through something very similar to these girls and while I may have gotten the justice of knowing I could finally sleep again at night, that I wasn’t going to be awaken by a man who held dominance over me; there is no way on God’s green Earth I would ever want my story as a movie. Is that truly justice? Or getting the “word” out that rape and kidnapping happens? I don’t think so.

  5. LIFETIME movies are third-rate soaps…made-for-TV garbage…the bottom of the barrel. And when is enough enough? When does the milking stop? Will there be punches to the stomach and vomiting of split-pea soup? Damn betcha!

Just when you thought we had put all this behind us and moved on. Fat chance. It’ll never end…not as long as this movie is made…and shown…and re-shown.

And it will be, because there will always be sick fucks who want to watch this type of torture-porn shit…and re-watch it. They’ll probably DVR it and pleasure themselves while watching it.

Whatta sick world. Conductor, can you let me off at the Sane Asylum. Please?

  6. This is fucking sick. Why the fuck would they want a movie made of this? I said leave well enough alone and let those girls live in peace. let Ariel castro remain in hell and not bring this shit back up again. Let those young women heal and get on with their lives. You honestly think they wanna turn on the TV and see shit like this? Putting salt on the wound.. seriously.
