The story behind the hard rock group Aerosmith is one filled with stories involving sex, drugs and rock ’n’ roll. Guitarist Joe Perry spins some of those stories in his new book Rocks: My Life in and out of Aerosmith. He’ll be at the Rock Hall from noon to 2 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 14, to sign copies of the book. In the book, Perry relates how he first met singer Steven Tyler in a New Hampshire restaurant and then formed one of the ‘70s (and ‘80s) biggest bands. As he writes, the book is “the loner’s story, the band’s story, the recovery story, the cult story, the love story, the success story, the failure story, the rebirth story, the re-destruction story, the post-destructive rebirth story.” To participate in the book-signing, you’ll need to purchase Rocks: My Life in and out of Aerosmith at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum store on the day of the event. The retail price is $27.99. The event is limited to a first come, first served basis, and no other items will be autographed so leave your tattered vinyl copy of Toys in the Attic at home. And you can leave your digital camera at home too as photographs will not be permitted either — professional photographs from the book-signing event will be available for purchase.
