Led by guitar wiz Tom Scholz, classic rockers Boston have been going at it for 40 years now. With more than 17 million copies sold, the band’s self-titled debut generated hits such as “More Than a Feeling,” “Peace of Mind,” and “Smokin’.”

Their second album, 1978’s Don’t Look Back, was another chart-topper. To celebrate its anniversary, the band will launch a 40th anniversary tour this spring. The tour commences on Friday, April 29, at the Hollywood, Florida Hard Rock Live, and will include a return to the Boston Music Hall (now known as the Wang Theatre), the site of the band’s first-ever headlining gig.

The tour also includes a May 18 stop at Jacobs Pavilion at Nautica. Those tickets will go on sale at noon on Friday at livenation.com.
