Late ’90s alternative outfits Sponge and Candlebox stopped by the House of Blues on Saturday night, playing to a sold-out crowd. The downtown venue was packed to the rafters, amazingly not triggering a fire marshal’s visit.

Candlebox, celebrating their Can’t Quit You tour, is wrapping up with a handful of stops left prior to the end of October.  The name of the tour refers to a new run of tour dates after finishing up a planned retirement tour in 2023.

Frontman and founding member Kevin Martin led his band through a retrospective, playing nineteen tunes over a hundred-minute set, encoring with “Far Behind” and “You,” from their most popular album, 1993’s Candlebox.

Detroit rockers Sponge joined Candlebox for the entirety of the tour, playing a forty-minute set prior to the headliners taking the stage.

Here’s all the action we caught.
