Concert Photos: Hinder and Saliva Brought the ’90s to the House of Blues

A trio of bands made their way to the House of Blues on a blustery early March evening last night, culminating in an evening of late ’90s music that one audience member called “Divorced Dad Rock.”

Stalwarts Hinder and Saliva were joined by Texas-bred Kingdom Collapse, sometimes called a Christian band, which was odd, as about every third word contained some variation of the word “fuck.”

Saliva, formed in Tennessee in 1996, was the middle act that put on a hell of a show. Much like recently-inducted Rock Hall member Foreigner, they’re largely a cover band without a single original member of their founding lineup. Playing a forty-minute set, the outfit left the stage to a cheering crowd, either unaware or not caring that the lineup didn’t appear on any of the band’s recordings.

Hinder then came out for a full ninety-minute set. Their lineup is a little more settled; the newest member of the quintet is frontman Marshal Dutton, who’s been with them since 2015.

Nonetheless, the audience didn’t care one way or another. The 800-person crowd, consisting primarily of men, divorced or otherwise, were absorbed in the moment.
