Fresh off of the announcement of multiple Grammy nominations, Leon Thomas hit the stage last night for a sold out show at the House of Blues as a part of his “Mutts Don’t Heel” tour with support from New Orleans songstress Ambre. Fans were treated to the smooth R&B sounds of Ambre’s set as she performed some fan favorites such as “Baby” and “Band Practice,” as well as her latest offering “She,” all set to the sounds of her guitar.
Soon after, Leon Thomas hit the stage underneath a dazzling mirrored disco ball in his own likeness. Thomas wowed the crowd with his brand of R&B, which is a fusion of neo-soul, jazz and rock and driven by electric guitar. His guitar solos were just as electrifying as his vocals as he performed hits from “Electric Dusk,” “Pholks” and his hit project “Mutt.” R&B star Coco Jones, who has been affectionately named “The First Lady of Cleveland,” joined Thomas on stage for a surprise performance of their duet, a cover of Justin Timberlake’s “Until the End of Time.” The finale was a performance of his breakout hit, the title track “Mutt,” to close out an amazing show in downtown Cleveland.
