Brooklyn-based outfit Sammy Rae and the Friends played to a very eclectic crowd at the House of Blues on Tuesday night. The 14-song set list kept the crowd, who sang along to every word, engaged throughout the 100-minute set. The stage was packed with band members; the two sax players were practically tripping over each other while the keys and drum kit flanked the sides of the stage, allowing plenty of room for the band to exercise their moves without stage-diving into the pit.

Southern California-bred Trousdale opened; the trio played a quick 45- minute set, warming the crowd up for the headliner. One audience member compared Trousdale to early-oughts Dixie Chicks. With engaging harmonies and snappy lyrics, this all-female band should be going places.
