Akron natives and Firestone High School grads The Black Keys (Dan Auerbach and Patrick Carney) came to Blossom on August 22nd for a beautiful Friday night gig. Auerbach took to the stage and said “Hello, Akron!” to a chorus of cheers. About seven songs into the set, two employees from Swenson’s, an Akron-based fast food joint famous for their Galley Burger, came onstage and offered Auerbach bags of the eponymous foil-wrapped burgers, which the lead singer tossed out, a burger at a time, into the audience. It was a special moment that really showed, on a primal level, the duo’s ties to the Rubber City. Music and food; what more could a Northeast Ohioan crave than that?

Guitar master Gary Clark Jr. played an opening set that primed the crowd for the hometown musicains, who went on to play for about a hudnred minutes.
